Undergraduate and Graduate Credit
Congratulations to Patti Christensen, our instrument recipient for 2016-2017. Patti received our chapter’s 2 alto xylophones, 2 alto metallophones, and 1 bass xylophone for use in her classroom.
Stay tuned for future applications for use of the chapter’s instruments!
Congratulations to Emily Reinholz, our scholarship recipient for 2015. Emily attended Level I at Vandercook College of Music in the summer of 2015. Emily said of her experience:
I can confidently say that taking your Orff levels is the best thing you can do for yourself as a music teacher, and I am so grateful that GMOD provided funding that allowed me to start my journey. I have been going to GMOD workshops for a few years, but life and finances got in the way of my levels. Finally taking my first level really taught me how to guide the children toward a deeper understanding and ownership of music. I have a better handle on musical sequencing, movement, and the creative process in Orff. I am probably a little high on Orff as I’m just finishing up my first level, but I am beyond excited to come back and implement the student-driven exploration and creation that I have learned about in this course. Thank you again, GMOD, for helping me transform my teaching!
Are you interested in furthering your education by pursuing Orff certification or taking an Orff master class? GMOD offers a scholarship for members to continue their Orff Schulwerk education. Applicants must be current GMOD members who have been active for at least two consecutive years. Applications are available in the spring.
